Parent Interest Application

The mission of Overtown Youth Center (OYC Miami) and Honey Shine is to inspire, empower, and enrich the lives of our youth and families through education, enrichment and exposure. The OYC Miami program is not a traditional after school or summer program. Instead, OYC Miami is a year-round program and OYC Miami staff are committed to the long-term growth and success of our children and families with the hope to support students in preparing to become positive contributing citizens when they are adults. The OYC Miami program includes academic support, enrichment activities, college and career readiness sessions, health and wellness opportunities, female and male empowerment sessions (Honey Shine and Band of Brothers), leadership opportunities, civic engagement, financial literacy, recreational activities, and family support. When joining OYC Miami, we ask for families to commit to our mission and to work with our team to work towards these goals together.

Disclaimer:

As parents, it’s critically important for us to make the most of these years and ensure that our children are involved in activities which will help them learn life skills and reach their highest potential. OYC Miami’s year-round programming experiences provide critical exposure, academic strengthening and access to many opportunities, outside the traditional classroom environment. In addition to afterschool programming, OYC offers a 6-week summer camp, designed to keep your students engaged and stave off summer learning loss. Students ages 14 and older may also have opportunities to participate in paid, summer employment and internship programs through OYC Miami. Following the submission of your online interest form, parents/guardians will receive a phone call from the Family Services department within 3 business days. In preparation of this call, parents are asked to secure their most recent student report card and copies of the child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) if applicable.
