Honey Shine Application

Honey Shine is a girls empowerment program founded by Tracy Wilson Mourning in 2002. Its mission is to encourage the balance of mind, body, and soul in girls and young women by providing nurturing experiences that enlighten their paths and empower their futures. Honey Shine is part of the OYC Miami family and supports girls and young women through mentoring, social-emotional wellness, education, enrichment, exposure, and college and career readiness experiences.

Participants are affectionately called Honey Bugs. Honey Bugs are encouraged to build confidence, explore new opportunities, grow outside of their comfort zones, and develop the knowledge, skills, and support networks needed to pursue their goals.

Club Goals

Build a consistent sense of sisterhood, belonging, and positive identity among Honey Bugs.
Support social-emotional wellness through structured activities that build self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, responsible decision-making, and goal-setting.
Support college and career readiness through prepared lessons, exposure activities, career exploration, postsecondary planning, and skill-building sessions.
Connect students to positive female role models in the community through mentors, motivational speakers, college and workforce readiness presentations, exposure trips, and participation in our Annual Jewel Summit event.
